About
Scrematura is an archive which gathers creative food-based strategies for commoning.
Bringing together a number of projects developed in the fields of art, design, anthropology, architecture and the everyday, the Atlas aims to become an empowering resource for the Food Commons. The archive functions as a shared curatorial research platform: an open access tool which connects radical practices whose work lies in between landscape, city and mouth
A Cake from your Neighbour
Manon Van Hoeckel
The metamorphosis of terrestrial landscapes is probably the most visible mark of human influence on the earth, but also one whose global character is the most difficult to measure. The conversion of a forest into a cornfield, or the transformation of a grassland into a residential subdivision is a very local phenomenon affecting forests, grasslands, and their inhabitants.

Examining practices tied to their local territories will ultimately lead to a better understanding of new ways in which networks of production, exchange, consumption and disposal of food can positively impact contemporary geographies.

The above pictures and links are part of a small self initiated research exercise which hopes to become, one day, a curatorial project and an open source tool for commoning. Scrematura has so far gathered more than 200 projects and related strategies from different parts of the world - we are hoping to extend and enrich this atlas in collaboration with a number of partners across multiple disciplines and backgrounds. Do get in touch if you would like to learn more about Scrematura and/or if you would like to add to this online open source archive
